Book Description
Finally--a single volume guide to really effective security for both voice and data wireless networks!
More and more data and voice communications are going via wireless at some point between the sender and intended recipient. As a result, truly "bulletproof" wireless security is now more than a desirable feature--instead, it's a necessity to protect essential personal and business data from hackers and eavesdroppers.

In this handy reference, Praphul Chandra gives you the conceptual and practical tools every RF, wireless, and network engineer needs for high-security wireless applications.
Inside this book youll find coverage of these essential topics:

+ Cryptographic protocols used in wireless networks.
+ Key-based protocols, including key exchange and authentication techniques
+ Various types of wireless network attacks, including reflection, session hijacks, and Fluhrer-Mantin-Shamir (FMS) attacks.
+ Encryption/decryption standards and methods.
+ Multi-layered security architectures.
+ Secure sockets layer (SSL) and transport layer security (TLS) protocols.
+ Cellular telephone network architectures and their vulnerabilities.
+ Modulation techniques, such as direct-sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) and orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM).

And youll also find coverage on such cutting-edge topics as security techniques for ad hoc networks and protecting Bluetooth networks. If youre serious about wireless security, then this title belongs on your reference bookshelf!

Free E-book: Fundamentals Of Wireless Communication

Fundamentals Of Wireless Communication
Contributed by ganelon on Thursday, August 02 @ 05:50:56 PDT
Topic: Book Wireless coverAuthor(s): David Tse, Pramod Viswanath
Publisher: Cambridge Press
Year: Jun 2005
ISBN: 0521845270
Language: English
Pages: 586
File type: PDF
Size (for download): 3.6 MB

This book aims to present modern wireless communication concepts in a coherent and unified manner and to illustrate the concepts in the broader context of the wireless systems on which they have been applied.

This book is written as a textbook for a first-year graduate course in wireless communication. The expected background is solid undergraduate/beginning graduate courses in signals and systems, probability and digital communication. This background is supplemented by the two appendices in the book. Appendix A summarizes some basic facts in vector detection and estimation in Gaussian noise which are used repeatedly throughout the book. Appendix B covers the underlying information theory behind the channel capacity results used in this book. Even though information theory has played a significant role in many of the recent developments in wireless communication, in the main text we only introduce capacity results in a heuristic manner and use them mainly to motivate communication concepts and techniques. No background in information theory is assumed. The appendix is intended for the reader who wants to have a more in-depth and unified understanding of the capacity results.

The more than 230 exercises form an integral part of the book. Working on at least some of them is essential in understanding the material. Most of them elaborate on concepts discussed in the main text. The exercises range from relatively straightforward derivations of results in the main text, to “back-of-envelope” calculations for actual wireless systems, to “get-your-hands-dirty” MATLAB types, and to reading exercises that point to current research literature. The small bibliographical notes at the end of each chapter provide pointers to literature that is very closely related to the material discussed in the book; we do not aim to exhaust the immense research literature related to the material covered here.

TABLE OF CONTENT:

UML book: Business Modeling with UML Business Patterns at Work - Wiley

Business Modeling with UML Business Patterns at Work - Wiley
Posted on Thursday, November 24 @ 15:23:52 PST
Topic: Book UML
Until now, the Unified Modeling Language (UML) has been primarily used to design software, but should you use it to model your entire business as well? That's the intriguing argument of Business Modeling with UML, a text that combines leading-edge enhancements to UML with some solid thinking about business. Written for any manager with some technical background, this book looks at the possibilities of UML used to model entire organizations.
The book makes a strong case for the advantages of modeling businesses in UML. With models, an organization can provide better software, define and implement new goals, and even decide whether to outsource certain operations. The Erickson-Penker Business Extensions for UML, invented by the authors and presented within the text, permit UML to document the entire business enterprise. This book shows how to model businesses, from business architecture to processes, business rules, and goals. Short case studies--for Web-centric and more traditional companies--are used to illustrate key concepts here.

Later sections of the book will perhaps take a little more background in software engineering to appreciate fully as the book presents a handful of business patterns, which offer reusable solutions to common problems (just like software patterns). The authors also look at how to leverage a business model to create better software.

In engineering, a new car is modeled and thoroughly tested on a computer before any physical prototype is ever built. As the authors point out, a business that has accurate models can test out new ideas cheaply and then adapt to changing market conditions quickly. This title makes a case that UML--a tool traditionally used by software developers--is ready to tackle the job. Read this notably informative and intelligent book to see the possible benefits of business modeling in UML for your organization.

Free e-book : Java Software Solutions 4th Edition

Java Software Solutions 4th Edition
Contributed by Anonymous on Friday, June 02 @ 12:41:09 PDT
Topic: Book Java This book takes an object-oriented approach to Java using the Java 1.5 release in a way that is appropriate for those just learning to write high-quality programs. The book features both text-based and GUI-based examples to demonstrate computing concepts and provide readers with maximum versatility. This new edition has an earlier evolution of object concepts, developed in a way that capitalizes on the power of objects without overwhelming beginning programmers. It places less empahsis on applets and more emphasis on GUI-based applications, while still maintaining a clean division between graphical and non-graphical topics. This book is appropriate for beginning programmers who want to learn to program with Java as well as experienced programmers who want to add Java to their skill-set.
